Kaolin's Parents

Max and Jill Stockinger

Max and I rode to the Lane County Court House on bicycles. It was in Eugene, Oregon. I was 34 1/2 years old. I wore a long white nylon dress my mother had sent me. One of my best friends from high school was living in Eugene and she came and was a witness. Her name was Jill Wolf. The other witness, Ann Osborn, was a friend from Solstice Bakery where I was working. We waited for another couple to get married and then we had the 5-minute little ceremony with the Lane County Deputy Clerk and received our marriage certificate. I think Ann gave us flowers. It was pretty matter-of-fact, since we had been living together for eight years. The date was September 6 1984. We then turned around and rode back to our apt. at 1020 W. 11th Ave. in Eugene, Oregon. The weather was pretty nice- very temperate. As Max and I had a private wedding ritual of our own at Nottingham Co-op in Madison, Wisconsin, I really had felt we were married already.
